Birthing Suite Available

For mothers and families who would like something between a hospital birth and a homebirth, we are now offering a lovely birthing suite devoted to the laboring mother.

This beautifully appointed suite offers a relaxed, home like environment for women and families who would prefer to not deliver at home, yet have the comfort of home.

Not only is the birthing room appointed with a comfortable queen size bed, a waterbirth option is available complete with a La Bassine tub.

There are many midwives that can assist you in having your baby here. Ask us for a list of midwives.

The birthing suite offers:

• The comforts of home without the preparation
• Postpartum stay is for up to 6 hours- longer at a small fee
• Kitchenette
• Stocked kitchen with drinks and snacks for the birth
• Waiting area for family to be close by

Fees

The cost of having your baby here with Birthing Your Way, LLC is $1300 plus $495 for the suite fee. This includes your prenatal care, the birth, postpartum care, newborn exam, birth supplies, waterbirth (if wanted), and a special gift from us to you.

If you have a midwife other than Heather Shelley CPM, LDEM the cost is only $495 plus your midwife’s fee. This is much less than a hospital where the mother’s fee starts at $4000 and baby’s fee starts at $1300, this doesn’t include any extras the hospital may charge.

Labor Suite

For those who live far from Orem and need the extra medical services of a hospital, we offer labor support and comforts at our suites.

When you go into labor, come to our suite, and with the help of a Monitrice* you can labor in comfort until it is time to go to the hospital. This saves families who have a long drive from home, from going to the hospital too early.

You can labor with us until the hospital will admit you, and it saves you that long car ride during active labor to get you to the hospital in time.

We are located near UVRMC, Orem Community and Mount Timpanogos hospitals.

Cost

• $295 up to 12 hours includes Doula or Monitrice fee
• $100 for every 6 hour increment

Includes a Monitrice for labor support.

* A Monitrice is someone trained in labor support.  Although a monitrice has additional birth training, a monitrice does not deliver babies.

Insurance Coverage

I am an out-of-network provider with all insurance companies, including Medicaid and TriCare.

However, many private insurance carriers will reimburse their members for midwifery services, including facility fees.

I use a billing service which specializes in midwifery care; they will gladly work with you to determine your benefits and submit claims to your insurance company for reimbursement.

VBAC Support

VBAC comes in many forms. At its most basic, VBAC is simply the vaginal birth of a child after a previous cesarean.

The point is simple. Only you have the right to choose whether or not to use your vagina. Vaginal birth is not a dirty word nor a procedure. Vaginal birth is the normal biological consequence of pregnancy, whether or not the mother has a prior cesarean.

For mothers who have been through a Cesarean, this support group is a wonderful place to share your feelings, heal, and help others who may have or may be facing a Cesarean.

This support group also offers information and help as we talk about the risks of vaginal birth and elective cesarean so that you can make the healthiest choice possible for you and your baby.

Miscarriage Support

Losing a pregnancy can be a hard time for many women.

The joy of pregnancy is now gone, and emotions not felt before may surface.

It can often be a great help to find a place where you may come and share your story, ask questions, or simply talk with others who understand what you are going through.

Don’t spend this time alone, come and receive support from those who understand the thoughts and feelings that can be present when a miscarriage is experienced.

Learn To Sew Cloth Diapers

There are many advantages to cloth diapering.  Cloth diapers are free of the chemicals used in paper diapers, they dramatically reduce the risk of diaper rash, they are more breathable, and quite frankly–would you prefer paper or cloth on your bum?

That being said, the cost of buying pre-made cloth diapers may be a deterrent for parents who want to stay away from the chemical-laden paper diapers.  This class will teach you how to make your own cloth diapers, at a fraction of the cost of pre-sewn ones.

Cloth diapers have also been shown to be a great help in potty training, as babies in cloth diapers know when they wet their diapers, and can sooner relate this to going to the toilet.

Breastfeeding Support Available

Breastfeeding Support Like No One Else!

We are passionate about the benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and child and offer a variety of services geared towards the nursing mother’s needs, they include:

• Breastfeeding classes
• Support groups
• Free 10 minute individual consultations at the office
• 1 hour affordable appointments
• Salt Lake County Classes are available beginning in November. If you are interested in these classes, please call or email us for details.

Breastfeeding Classes will help you learn:

• How to feed your baby
• How to get a proper latch
• How often baby needs to eat
• How to care for breasts
• How to avoid sore nipples
• How to get more sleep while breastfeeding your baby
• The joys and benefits of breastfeeding

Cost is $20 or $15 per couple if you are taking any childbirth class at Mothering Your Way, LLC. 

Babes in arms are always welcome, please feel free to nurse your children on premises.

Our hope is that you feel comfortable in this sanctuary created for mothers by mothers.

In Office:

• $15 30 minutes
• $25 60 minutes
• $40 90 minutes

At Home Visits

• $20 30 minutes within 8 miles
• $30 60 minutes within 8 miles
• $45 90 minutes within 8 miles

Beyond 8 miles there are additional travel fees.
